« Eeeewww.... It’s Gross and it’s at I-5 »

Sometimes it’s stinky; sometimes it’s crusty; and sometimes it’s slimy. Explore why your body produces mushy, oozy, crusty, scal,y and stinky gunk at “Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body.” The exhibit is now open at the Impression 5 science museum in downtown Lansing and will be there until Sunday, May 15.

Based on the best-selling book Grossology, this exhibition uses sophisticated animatronics and imaginative, often interactive displays to tell you the good, the bad, and the downright ugly about runny noses, body odor, and much more.

Now is your chance to mimic the buildup of acid indigestion by causing the “Burp Machine” to release a giant belch, climb a large-scale replica of human skin, and discover other mysterious ways your body’s biology does what it needs to do to keep you healthy

“Grossology” is a collaboration between Science World, Advanced Exhibits, and Grossology author Sylvia Branzei. “Grossology is more than an exciting exhibit for the community to see and be part of,” said Erik Larson, executive director of Impression 5. “It’s also an opportunity for our guests to see what’s new at Impression 5 in 2011.”

“Grossology” is sponsored by Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau, Jackson National Life Insurance Company, and Neogen Corporation.

Jim Fordyce, the host of MIafternoon on MIE Radio got a sneak preview and says, “This exhibit is great fun. I think the grownups will love it as much as the kids.”
