Summary
If you’ve heard of genetic testing but really don’t know what it’s used for or how it works, or even if your information is a little dated like Christine’s was, this is definitely the show for you. Bev Yashar helps us to understand the relatively new science of genetic testing and what it’s used for today, both in the determination of existing conditions as well as to evaluate the likelihood of future illnesses or conditions.
The conversation is so fascinating that we decided to bring Bev back for a part 2! In Part 1, Bev helps us to understand what you need to know if you go for genetic testing, whether it’s covered by insurance, and just what a genetic counselor is and why they are so important for the patients.
Bev is just a wealth of information and so adept at helping us to understand the intricacies involved with genetic testing. You don’t want to miss it! If you want to contact Bev for additional information on this exciting science, she can be reached at yashar@umich.edu.
You absolutely don’t want to miss Part 2 of this conversation when Bev is joined by Monica Marvin, who will help us to understand some of the current and missing legislation that will help us navigate through this new science and protect our needs as consumers!
