« "Date Night" is one funny film »
Rating: 3 out of Fordyce
The big movie this weekend is Date Night.
Steve Carell and Tina Fey star in this PG-13 comedy about a couple who just want a night away from the kids. They get a sitter and cross the bridge from their suburban New Jersey home, only to find they can’t get into the fancy new restaurant in the cityb without a reservation. When the name of another couple is called and there is no response, our couple takes their table.
There is one problem: the couple who made the reservation are wanted by a mobster played wonderfully by Ray Liotta. The couple flee certain death in Central Park only to encounter a shirtless Mark Wahlberg, who tries to help them, as well as some good bad cops, some bad cops, and a corrupt DA.
What ensues is about 90 minutes of fun. There is a great car chase scene, several funny lines and situations that only Fey and Carell could get away with. It all wraps up a cool ending.
This will not get an Oscar nod, but it will give you some good laughs. I give Date Night a good 3 out of Fordyce.
P.S. Don’t run out of the movie house until the credits are done. They show some outtakes and you will miss the funniest line not in the movie.
