« Jim's Monday Shout Outs (2-07-2010) »

What a super weekend. I enjoyed a trip to Owosso Friday night for Oklahoma.  The Community Players there did a fine job. Check out my review on the Theater page, and while you are there look at my review of Alegria: Cirque du Soleil. I caught the show Saturday night in Detroit. Its run at the Joe ended last night, but it will return to Michigan on March 31 for a five day run at The Breslin Center in East Lansing. You WILL want to see this one!

I also popped down to Adrian, where I caught the last show of “Fame.” Too bad that show only ran for one weekend. This was an effort from area high school students and it was a delight. We don’t review high school shows at MIentertainment. The young people get an automatic four out of Fordyce for their hard work, dedication, and for many, the experience of trying something new.

This week “The Smell of the Kill” opens at Williamston Theater. I will be in the audience opening night, which is Friday, but there is a preview Thursday night. Saturday I will head for Paw Paw for “One Acts,” and Sunday I will be at the Encore Theater in Dexter for “Putnam County Spelling Bee,” which is in the middle of a three-week run. Some of my colleagues have raved about this show, so I don’t think you need to wait for my approval to grab your tickets for this one.

Later this week you will see the newest version of this website popping up on your screen. It will have a place for you to listen to our new MIentertainment Radio Station, which will premier next month. I will be on every afternoon with “MI Afternoon,” a great little talk show about fun things in Michigan. And if you get up early, Walt Sorg will get your day started with a live broadcast every morning simulcast from www.TalkLansing.net.

We have scheduled the Oscar Party for Sunday, March 7, at Lansing Mall Cinema. Details coming soon, including your chance to win a limo ride to the party. It’s all free, including the buffet (but we will ask you to donate to the YMCA Open Arms Campaign). You will get your invitations later this week!

Looking for the review of Oklahoma by Owosso Community Players, you referred to it but it doesn't seem to be available.
