What a weekend. I enjoyed another perfect show from The Williamston Theater on Friday. I hated a new movie (The Wolfman) on Saturday and adored the show at the Encore Theater in Dexter Sunday afternoon.
Check out my reviews and see just how good The Smell of the Kill is at Williamston, and what a cute musical “Putnam County Spelling Bee” is in Dexter. While I was in Williamston and Dexter, Jeffrey Van Camp went to Paw Paw for “One Acts.” His review is here.
Jeffrey Van Camp, who joins us from cinemasoldier.com, also wrote a review about a movie I took a pass on this weekend, “Valentine’s Day.”
This week “Gravity” opens at the Purple Rose Theater in Chelsea, Icarus Falling presents “Power Plays,” and Sunday night a new Lansing-made movie called “Handlebar” will premiere at Celebration Cinema. Look for details on our new calendar page, which will make its debut on Tuesday. (If you have listing for that new calendar page, please send it to us on the contribution form here.)
It is all part of the newest version of MIentertainment. It will have a place for you to listen to our new MIentertainment Radio station, which will premier next month. I will be on every afternoon with “MI Afternoon,” a great little talk show about fun things in Michigan. And if you get up early, Walt Sorg will get your day started with a live broadcast every morning simulcast from TalkLansing.net. (Here is a less than subtle tip: Until MIentertainment Radio is fully operational, you can listen to MI Afternoon, beginning at 3 p.m. today on TalkLansing.net.)
Get Ready for OSCAR!
We have scheduled the Oscar Party for Sunday, March 7, at Lansing Mall Cinema. Details are coming soon, including your chance to win a limo ride to the party. It’s all free, including the buffet (but we will ask you to donate to the YMCA Open Arms Campaign). You will get your invitations this week. You can RSVP now if you wish to jim@MIentertainment.biz and I will begin getting a head count together. If you want to win a limo ride to the event, send me an email to that same address and tell me why you and three friends deserve to be picked up at your Lansing area house and whisked to the Lansing Mall Cinema in Hollywood style!
