« Episode 26: Nature Deficiency Disorder »

Originally Aired 11-6-2010: In 2008 Richard Louv published Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder. This critically acclaimed book explained how depriving children of interaction with nature can lead not only to physical problems such as being overweight, but also to mental disorders such as ADD and depression.

Louv founded the Children and Nature Network with Cheryl Charles to organize groups around the country and the world to encourage children to get away from television, iPhones, and computer screens and interact with the wild.

In this episode, I cohost with Christine Andrew, host of “MI Health and Wellness” and “Enlightening Radio”, in an interview with Cheryl Charles about the many benefits of letting our children run free.
