"Marigold" is a wonderful stay at a Great Hotel

Rating: 4 out of Fordyce (PERFECT)

I admit it, I love Judy Dench. So going to see “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” was on my “must see” list. It is the story of a group of British retirees who believe their pensions will go farther in India. They all meet when they move to a residential hotel. They find it less luxurious than the advertisements suggest, but The Marigold Hotel and the ambitious young man who runs it exude many charms in unusual ways. Joining Dench in this wonderful cast is Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy, Penelope Wilson, Maggie Smith and Dev Patel.

These actors are all masters at their craft and show it in every single scene.  The script is superb. It reflects life being both happy and sad, warm and tender, and even unpleasant and sometimes nasty. Add in the scenery and majesty of the people and places of the mysterious subcontinent of India and it all mixes together for a movie where you love the characters and the story. Nothing else to say about this film, except to give it my top rating: a perfect 4 out of Fordyce. It is a must see.

"Men in Black 3" a well done, fun sequel

Rating: 3 out of Fordyce

I am not a big fan of sequels, I saw the original “Men in Black,” but skipped number 2. I did go to see “Men in Black 3,” however, and I am glad I did.

Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are back as the super secret agents keeping the alien visitors on Earth in line. In this script, something happens in the past that comes back to haunt Smith’s Agent J.  J  must go back in time to 1969 to save his partner, Agent K, played by Jones in the present and Josh Brolin in the past.

The producers of the show, which will take place in Ramat Gan stadium on Thursday, are keeping the details of the pop queen’s visit under wraps. However, the sources said that Madonna will be staying at Tel Aviv’s Dan Hotel, and not at the specially-built accommodation.

Madonna is in Israel accompanied by her children - 15-year-old Lourdes, ten-year-

“The Avengers” sink the “Battleship”

It seems The Avengers just keep taking on the competition. For the third week in a row, the Marvel Comics action flick with the all-star, all-superhero cast was number one at the box office. It took in just over $55 million this weekend, bringing its domestic total alone to $457,000,000.00 That’s a lot of zeros, but not enough, because when you add in the worldwide totals, “The Avengers” has put about  a billion dollars in the box office bank. Not bad for a movie that cost an estimated $220 million to make. I was among the many who liked this movies, I was also among the many who did not care for “Battleship.”

Battleship: Pick your bad movie cliche from the list below

Rating: One out of Fordyce (poor)

I was trying to avoid the clichés: Battleship sinks—Battleship capsizes, Battleship springs a leak, throw Battleship a life preserver—but I won’t stoop to that level (yeah, right). The only good thing I can say about the movie is it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.

This film, based on the board game by the same name, is a retread of every
